DEMA 2016 in Las Vegas

The DEMA show is always and important event in the diving industry. It's an excellent place to see new gear, meet new and old friends and find out what's 'HOT' in the diving world.

During the 4-day mad rush to get everything done and see everyone we needed to see, we still managed to take a few pics of our surroundings and of some of the people we wet up with.

On Thursday, Michel was presented as one of a select group of PADI Ambassadors.

Walking with the dragons in Komodo

Second time in Indonesia this year and this time we were diving the Komodo route.

The abundance of the waters is outstanding and the reefs are packed with life.

We also paid a visit to the famous dragons of Komodo and dove Manta Alley.

Another sensational trip on the Arenui!

Look at those colors!

Wrecks, whales... and icebergs

Back from the rock as its called. We just spent a week in Newfoundland diving the wrecks of Bell Island, sunk by u-boats during WWII, snorkeling with whales and hunting for icebergs.

The wrecks are all huge and you definitely need to dive them more than once to get a good idea of all there is to see on them.

As for the whales, we saw many but we were just early of the capelan run so they were harder to approach but we were still able to jump in and get a good look.

The icebergs were mostly North of us and the one we found was too dangerous to dive around. It actually broke, almost in two, before our very eyes. Glad we were still on land!

Our week ended with the traditonal Screech ceremony. We all kissed the cod and are new honorary Newfoundlanders!

Thanks Rick, Debbie and all the staff at Ocean Quest!

June 8 is World Oceans Day

Super excited to be participating in a special event for the World Oceans Day in collaboration with National Geographic Education and Exploring by the seat of your pants.

We will be LIVE talking with 5 classrooms about the Clipperton Expedition and how to protect our oceans.

Can't wait!

Finaly back to Indonesia

It had been almost 6 years since our last trip to Indonesia and we were anxious to go back.

We boarded the luxury liveaboard Arenui for a cruise in Alor, muck diving heaven and hidding place of the coveted Rhinopia!

What an amazing trip!!!!

Over 12 days we logged 35 dives with almost 45 hours of bottom time and we have so many photos and video footage our heads are still spinning.

We can't wait to go back on the Arenui in July when we will be diving Komodo.

Indonesia and the Arenui rock!

Beneath the Sea 40th Anniversary Show

The Beneath the Sea dive show is always a good place to meet up with fellow divers, celebs and legends of the diving world and the 40th year anniversary was, of course, no exception.

The Fish and Famous party on Friday is always very popular, not to mention the Film Festival.

We were not just there for fun... even if we had a lot! We had 3 seminars on the program.

Diving in a vodka filled punch bowl

Michel and I did something rather unusual last weekend. We went for a dive in vodka.

This is actually a time honored tradition of the Boston Sea Rovers, reserved for new inductees.

We are now Associate Members of the Boston Sea Rovers. WOW!!!

The 63rd annual clinic was fantastic as usal with a stellar list of speakers and the film festival was incredible.

Thanks Rovers and thanks to all who attended the clinic and our 2 seminars; one Clipperton and one on Baja.

Back from Clipperton - alive and well!

We just returned from our Big Migrations - Explorers Club Flag Expedition.

It was quite a journey! We saw land for the first time on the morning of Day 6, after sailing for 122 hours.

The 1st day was spent walking around the island. Landing on the atoll was quite treacherous since we had to swim through the breakers.

On land... sadly a lot of trash. Birds and crabs everywhere.

Days 2 and 3 were spent diving and tagging sharks and we surprised an illegal fishing boat within the 12 nm territorial waters of the atoll.

On the way back (117 hours) we stopped for almost 2 days at Socorro and San Benidicto islands and were able to dive there.

The Giant Pacific Manta Rays came to play and we even spotted a new idividual that Michel has had the chance to name 'Jules'!

A complete expedition report will be made available on the expedition site in the upcoming months.
